“Confidence first, speed later.”
Lana Millard
How it works
Fifteen minutes with Lana before anything is booked or paid for.
Step 1
Pick a time that suits you. No card, no commitment — just a conversation about what your child is finding hard right now.
Step 2
Lana will ask what's been going on and explain how sessions work, and you'll both decide whether it's the right fit. If it isn't, Lana will say so and point you somewhere better.
Step 3
If it's a fit, Lana opens your account. You buy the sessions you want and request an open time; Lana approves it, usually the same day.
What we do
Whatever the grade, every session goes to the thing that's actually hard right now — in a quiet room, at your child's pace.
Reading, writing, and math
One skill at a time. Reading, writing, and math support for every grade level that meets your child exactly where they are.
The after-school hour, minus the battle
The after-school hour, minus the battle. A small group of students gets their work done side by side, with a patient teacher there for every question.
Ready for the first day
Everything a child needs to walk into kindergarten ready — letters, sounds, numbers, and the routines that make a school day feel easy.
Children who are behind already know it. Shame has never taught anyone to read — so we go slower, and we start with what they can already do.
Pricing
Buy one session at a time, or a bundle at a lower rate, then suggest times against what's on your account.
Buy once, book as you go
Payment is by card through Stripe at the time you buy. Sessions sit on your account until you use them — see our cancellation and refund policy for the details.

15
years teaching

Meet Lana Millard
After 15 years teaching at Franklin Academy, Lana Millard kept seeing the same thing: a student who just needed someone to sit beside them and go slower. Not a program. Not a curriculum. A person.
Moore Prep carries the name of a little boy who gave his one year of kindergarten everything he had.
From Pre-K and up. Whatever your child is working on this week is what we work on.
15 years teaching at Franklin Academy, with hundreds of families along the way.
A portion of every dollar goes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mason's honor.
In memory
So she started Moore Prep — a small tutoring practice in downtown Wake Forest for students from Pre-K and up. It is named for Mason Moore, who poured himself into his one year of kindergarten with a joy that everyone around him felt. He passed away from cancer, and his love of learning is the reason this exists.
A portion of all proceeds is donated each year to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mason's honor.

Sessions happen at Hatch Coworking — a calm, quiet workspace at the corner of E. Roosevelt Ave and S. White St in downtown Wake Forest. No echoing hallways, no cafeteria noise, no twenty other kids. Just a small room where your child can focus.

Our promise
Moore Prep is small on purpose. These are the things that don't change, no matter who walks through the door.
Pre-K and up. Letter sounds, long division, or a five-paragraph essay — we meet your child wherever they are.
Confidence comes before speed. Sessions move at your child's pace, not a curriculum's.
